Setting up Solo Alert is simple.
Solo Alert is designed to give you reassurance while helping you maintain your independence. You choose when you want to check in, who you want to include in your Safety Circle, and how Solo Alert fits into your daily routine.
Follow these simple steps to get started.
Download the Solo Alert app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and create your account.
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be guided through the setup process so you can personalise your check-ins and safety settings.
Your check-ins are the times when Solo Alert asks you to confirm you’re okay. Check-ins are automatically populated for twice a day, however, it is completely customisatble.
You might choose:
One simple daily check-in
A check-in window that covers your day, such as 6:00am to 11:00pm.
Multiple check-ins throughout the day
– Morning
– Lunchtime
– Afternoon
– Evening
There is no right or wrong setup — the best check-in schedule is the one that works naturally for you.
We recommend you combine your check-ins with something which is already routine for you – eg with breakfast, before your morning walk, when you take your medication etc.
You will receive push and sound notifications at the scheduled time, but combining your check-ins with your usual routine will help you remember – especially in the beginning.
Your Safety Circle is made up of the trusted people you choose to be contacted if you miss a check-in.
This might include:
– Family members
– Friends
– Neighbours
– Carers or support people
Choose people who know you well and who would be comfortable checking in if they receive an alert.
When you add someone to your safety circle, they will receive a text asking them to download the app. The reason for this is that if something happens and you do need help, the safety circle can communicate within the app. There is no cost to become a safety circle member.
You stay in control – they will ONLY be notified if you miss a check-in so you can stay independent unless you need help.
Once your account is set up, Solo Alert will remind you when it’s time to check in.
Simply open the app and confirm that you’re okay.
If you check in, nothing else happens.
Your day continues as normal.
The best safety systems are the ones that become part of everyday life.
